Privacy Policy
1.Who We Are
Sportsnap.ca ("Sportsnap", "we", "our", or "us") is an athlete profile platform operated from Ontario, Canada. We help athletes build a professional online presence and connect with coaches, clubs, and scouts.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information. It applies to everyone who creates an account, builds a profile, or visits the site. We comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.
2.Information We Collect
Account information. When you sign up we collect your email address, a hashed password, and your first and last name.
Profile information. When you build an athlete profile you may provide your age, sport, position, jersey number, club name, city, province, biography, photos, season statistics, achievements, and coach endorsements. You decide what to include — most fields are optional.
Payment information. Subscription payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store or have access to your full credit card numbers. We receive a customer ID and subscription ID from Stripe so we can manage your plan.
Usage data. We track basic interaction data such as profile views and feature usage. This helps us understand which parts of the platform are useful and improve them over time.
Cookies. We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We do not currently use third-party advertising trackers that follow you across other websites.
3.How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- ›Display your athlete profile (publicly, if you choose)
- ›Calculate your SnapRank score and place you on rankings leaderboards
- ›Process subscription payments and manage your plan
- ›Send important account notifications (password resets, billing receipts, plan changes)
- ›Respond to your support requests
- ›Improve the platform and develop new features
- ›Comply with legal obligations and protect against fraud or misuse
4.How We Share Your Information
Public profiles. If your profile is set to public, anyone with the link can view it. This includes your name, photo, sport, position, club, city, biography, statistics, and achievements. Profile views are anonymous to others.
Service providers. We share information with companies that help us run the platform:
- ›Supabase — database, authentication, and file hosting
- ›Stripe — subscription billing and payment processing
- ›Resend — sending transactional emails (password resets, receipts, etc.)
- ›Vercel — application hosting
These providers can only use your information to provide their service to us.
Legal disclosures. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to investigate potential violations of our Terms of Service.
We do not sell your personal information. Ever.
5.Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Supabase, encrypted at rest and in transit (TLS). Photos are stored in Supabase Storage. We use Row-Level Security to ensure only authorized users can access or modify their own data.
Some data may be stored or processed on servers in the United States, as our service providers operate global infrastructure. We rely on these providers' standard contractual protections for cross-border transfers.
While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no system is perfectly secure. If we ever experience a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.
6.Children and Minors
Sportsnap is intended for athletes aged 13 and older. Children under 13 are not permitted to create accounts. If we discover that we have collected information from someone under 13, we will delete it promptly.
Athletes aged 13–17 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian before creating an account. By signing up, you confirm that you have this permission if you are under 18.
Parents and guardians can:
- ›Review the information collected from their child
- ›Request corrections to inaccurate information
- ›Request deletion of their child's account at any time
- ›Withdraw consent for the collection of their child's information
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@sportsnap.ca.
We strongly recommend that minor athletes (and their parents/guardians) avoid including identifying details like home address, school name, or daily schedule in public profiles.
7.Your Rights
Under PIPEDA and applicable provincial laws, you have the right to:
- ›Access the personal information we hold about you
- ›Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete

If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (for example, billing records under tax law). Backups may persist for an additional 90 days before being permanently deleted.
